Q – How do I reserve a space for a BV Ride tour?
A – Complete the motorcycle tour booking form. April will then be in contact to complete the next steps. For any reservation booked more than 60 days in advance of the arrival date for the tour, a non-refundable deposit of 30% of all tour fees and applicable charges will be required. The remaining balance of the tour cost must be paid in full 60 days before the arrival date. Q – What is the closet airport to the BV Rides meeting place for the start of the tours?
A – Flights into Denver International Airport. FREE Denver International Airport pick up and drop off is available to and from Welcome Evening accommodations.
Q – What should I pack?
A – Colorado weather is very variable. Expect warmer temperatures during the day and cooler ones at night. It is recommended to pack plenty of layers for both on and off the motorcycle. Also pack snacks, important documents, sunscreen and any critical medications. All evening dining reservations are casual.
Q – What motorcycle riding gear is reccomended?
A – Wearing protective gear not only protects you should the worst happen, but also protects you from the elemental forces of sun, wind and rain. Today there are excellent choices in leather, textiles and high tensile nylons that are not only superbly comfortable, but also offer first-rate protection. Wearing a jacket and appropriate riding pants are recommended. The best pants come down and cover your over-the-ankle boots, providing complete protection all down your leg. Leather boots with heavy soles protect feet from abrasive asphalt and don’t get caught on the pegs during starts and stops of the motorcycle. In addition, wearing quality gloves protects your hands’ from hard surfaces and the elements. April recommends Viking Cycle for all your riding gear.
Rain – Expect to have to motorcycle during rain, so packing necessary riding rain gear is necessary. Motorcycle rain gear includes but is not limited to, waterproof pants, jacket, gloves and boot covers.
Q – How can I participate with BV Rides?
A – Four options. A. Ride your motorcycle to the meeting place. B. Trailer your motorcycle out to the meeting place. C. Ship your motorcycle out to the meeting place. D. Rent from local motorcycle agencies. Vehicle trailer parking and baggage storage is available during the length of tour for an additional fee. CLICK HERE for more information on the options.
Q – What are the tour participant requirements?
A – All participants have to be 21 years of age upon arrival for tour, have a valid motorcycle license, minimum of one year riding experience on heavyweight motorcycles, and have the physical ability to manage a multi-day motorcycle tour.
Q – What about food?
A – April’s tours are all inclusive with best food being chosen as daily options. April will go over all of the food arrangements with you in advance depending on what tour you book. April will always have additional water available. Please pack snacks if necessary for riding breaks. Please inform BV Rides of any dietary restrictions prior to arrival of tour. Alcohol is not included in the all inclusive tour price.
Q – Will I need motorcycle insurance?
A – If you bring your own motorcycle you will need to show proof of insurance. BV Rides require participants have the minimum insurance of 500 combined single limit. If you decide to rent a motorcycle BV Rides highly suggests also purchasing insurance through the rental agency.
Q – What can I expect of the weather?
A – Obviously, this will largely depend on the time of year. However, Colorado weather can change quickly throughout the day. During the Summer months passing storms can be present. Mornings and evenings can be colder while during the day can be warmer. Dressing in easy-to-remove layers and having proper rain gear is recommended. April recommends the FXRG Collection from Harley-Davidson for layering.
Q – How high up will we be going?
A – We will pass multiple mountain passes and motorcycle along cliffs that can reach from 9,000-14,000 feet. Do not worry, just stay hydrated and takes things easy. We will be with you all the time. This is why we do a welcome night in Denver, so everyone has a night to start to get acclimated to the altitude.
Colorado Laws for Motorcyclists
Q – What is the helmet law per Colorado?
A – Riders age 18 and over are not required to wear helmets. Eye protection is always required. BV Rides does recommend the use of helmets. CLICK HERE for more information on Colorado motorcycle laws.
Q -What are the marijuana laws in Colorado?
A – If you are an adult (21+ years old) you can legally possess one ounce of marijuana/THC. But BV Rides DOES NOT allow the use of marijuana at any time during the tour. Anyone suspected to be under the influence of drugs will not be allowed to continue on with the tour.
Q – What is the BAC limit in Colorado?
A – The Colorado DUI law prohibits a person from driving when they have a concentration of .08 percent or more alcohol in their blood system. Please wait to enjoy an alcoholic beverage until the motorcycles are parked for the night. Anyone suspected to be under the influence of alcohol while riding will not be allowed to continue on the tour
